Prenatal Care
Understanding how to care for yourself and your unborn baby during pregnancy is an important part of motherhood! Dr. Holt provides comprehensive prenatal care for women in Frisco and the DFW metroplex, from regular exams to diet counseling and all aspects of women's healthcare during pregnancy. During the first 28 weeks, you'll visit Dr. Holt's Frisco office once a month. Weeks 28 to 36 visits every other week, and after week 36, you’ll come to the office for weekly checkups.
Whether you are a new parent or have already had children, having a highly educated, experienced, and caring prenatal doctor is vital to your positive pregnancy, labor, and delivery. Dr. Holt and our team will answer all of your women's healthcare questions and provide open, honest communication on all aspects of your prenatal care.
What are Trimesters?
Pregnancy lasts 38 to 40 weeks for most women, and these weeks are divided into three groups. The first trimester is from week one to 12; second trimester includes months four through six; and third (last) trimester is from month six through delivery.
Will I Get to See the Baby Before He/She is Born?
The first really exciting event you'll experience is hearing the heartbeat! But we know that most mothers are equally if not more excited about seeing the baby. In most cases, Dr. Holt orders a sonogram after the first few months of pregnancy. You and, if you so choose, your partner or parent, will see an image of the unborn child on a monitor. We can record the sonogram and/or give you photos. At this time, you can request to know the gender of the baby if the sonogram specialist can determine it. Remember, there's no guarantee that the sonogram specialist is accurate on this topic!
How Can I Know What to Do and What to Expect During Pregnancy?
When will the baby kick? Can you wear makeup and paint your fingernails? How will you know false labor from the real thing? Just ask! Dr. Holt will answer all of your questions along the way.
